The intersection of the nervous system and the immune system plays a pivotal role in both the protection and pathology of the central (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS). Neuroimmunology explores the mechanisms through which immune responses contribute to neurological health and disease, while neuroinflammation is increasingly recognized as a major factor in the progression of neurodegenerative, autoimmune, infectious, and psychiatric disorders. This session will delve into the latest research on immune-mediated neurological disorders, focusing on how neuroinflammatory pathways, autoimmune responses, and blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction contribute to conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NMO), Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and autoimmune encephalitis.

Advancements in immunotherapy, biomarker discovery, and precision medicine are revolutionizing the diagnosis and treatment of neuroimmune disorders. Discussions will explore the role of microglia and astrocytes in inflammation, the impact of infectious agents on neuroimmunity, and how peripheral immune responses contribute to neuropathies. Special emphasis will be placed on neuroimmune interactions in pain and headache disorders, neuroinflammation in psychiatric and mood disorders, and emerging therapeutic strategies targeting immune dysregulation. By bringing together leading neurologists, immunologists, and neuroscientists, this session will provide a platform to discuss novel therapeutic approaches, cutting-edge diagnostics, and future directions in the field of neuroimmunology and neuroinflammation.
